DCI Representative Visited Bangladesh Sun Child Sponsorship Program (SCS) and Health for Underprivileged Program (HUP)

US-based charity developing health and education programs for underprivileged children in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (March 26, 2009): Distressed Children and Infants (DCI) International’s Representative from its New York Chapter, Dr. Afia Zaman, a well known pediatrician from New York, USA, visited Bangladesh (March 15-25) to supervise the Sun Child Sponsorship (SCS) Program and the Urban Healthcare Centre (Health Program for Underprivileged), and to provide healthcare to the underprivileged.

Dr. Zaman visited DCI’s head office and the Urban Healthcare Centre (UHCC) in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, where she talked about the SCS Program and Rights and Sight for Children (RSC) concentrating on follow-up, monitoring, and student education with the officers of DCI in Bangladesh. Dr. Zaman said, “I want to work extensively with the development of the Health for Underprivileged Program. In the USA, I want to motivate American doctors and physicians to take on more humanitarian activities through DCI. In the near future, I want to visit Bangladesh again with an organized group of my American doctor friends to conduct more humanitarian work for Bangladeshi children”.

During March 20-25, Dr. Zaman provided free treatment to underprivileged people at DCI’s UHCC Mohammadpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Currently RSC is implementing various DCI projects in the 4 districts of Bangladesh.
