Shirish Dhume

shirish-dhumeShirish T. Dhume is currently a consultant in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, where he has more than 20 years of experience. He has worked for both small biotechnology firms and large multinational companies, and is adept to the cultures of both. His specialty is in the field of analytics in conjunction with project management and aspects of regulatory affairs, quality control, quality assurance and international regulations. He demonstrates leadership skills not only across functional and disciplinary lines, but also across countries, and has dealt with many international clients. As a department lead, he has successfully led several teams and projects through campaigns for drug production. Prior to consulting for Shire Pharmaceuticals through Tunnell consulting, Shirish was Group Leader in Xcellerex, Curagen and Senior Manager in Alexion, where he established and headed the Analytical department. He worked for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) prior to starting his industrial career at GlaxoSmithKline. Shirish has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University (LSU) and did a post-doctoral program at State University of New York (SUNY), Stony Brook. He received his Bachelor of Science (Technology) in chemistry from University of Mumbai.

His wife of nineteen years, Shaffina, also works in the pharmaceutical sector as a regional scientific manager in the field of medical information, responsible for the New England region of USA. They have two children: Shiraz (17), a senior at Cheshire High School, soon to enter Emerson College in the field of communications, and Shreya (9), who is in 4th grade at Highland elementary school. Over the years, Shirish and his family have been involved with various charity organizations, and are all actively involved with DCI.
